Our dedicated freestyle board, the weapon of choice of PWA Freestyle World Champions Dieter van der Eyken and Sarah-Quita Offringa.
The all-new 2018 Flare shapes have a new volume distribution with the thickest point of the board pushed back and a thinner, more aerodynamic nose. The outlines and bottom shapes have also been upgraded to make the new Flares more compact than ever. A new Flare 113 is also added to the range for lighter days or bigger riders.
All boards come with Drake Ready to Freestyle fin fitted to a Power Box. Fin sizes have been increased by 1 cm compared to 2017 to improve speed and grip.
The 2018 Flares have a thinner and rounder, more aerodynamic nose that allows the boards to spin more freely.
Bio resin has half the carbon emissions footprint of conventional epoxy resin and end-grain Balsa has a tenth of the footprint of conventional PVC sandwich cores.
Boards built using the Carbon L.C.F. technology use Smart Carbon vectors: putting the carbon smartly in the right places for an optimized combination of stiffness, flex and feel and ultimately allowing us to use less of it.
We've also removed all plastic from our packaging: bubble-wrap, plastic dust bags and EPS blocks have been replaced with honeycomb and corrugated cardboard to further reduce the carbon footprint of a Starboard.
