Default Futura Wood Reflex 2016 vs. Isonic Wood construction

Hi guys,

2016 is the first year of Futuras without wood in the deck. Now the board has a full 3mm PVC Biaxial Glass sandwich deck, as I can read in Starboards technical description. No I understand the reason of the blue deck-color in 2016 .
My questions are:
1. What is the advantage of the new construction for the Futura Wood Reflex without wood in the deck?
2. Why the Isonic Wood still has a wooden deck in 2016?
3. Has the PVC Biaxial Glass sandwich deck of the 2016 Futura Wood Reflex the same impact/pressure resistance than the wooden deck of the Isonics or the Futuras of the last years?

Best regards
Thomas

Dear development team,
a short answer at my questions would be great. I'm interested to know more about the construction differences because I changed my Futura UltraCore now into Wood Reflex after a quality issue/guarantee case .

Regards Thomas

Hi Thomas

The better response is on the iSonic Wood vs the Futura Wood Reflex for racing, the Biax glass on deck on the Futura absorbed better the vibration and at the end you have a more confortable board. Also more easy to repair for impact on deck.
Hope this help
All the best

Hi Remi,
thanks for your answer, but I'm a little bit confused. I thought, that wood is the best choice for a comfortable board and that the Biax glass deck of Futura Wood Reflex 2016 makes a light, crisp and stiff feeling (= good response) - as Starboard writes on the Website. I guess, that the impact resistance is nearly the same compared to wood and as an extra advantage is Biax glass probably cheaper than wood.

Best regards
Thomas

I prefer wood too. I'd also like to know which has better impact resistance too.
