Default Old knees, replacing iSonic 97

My knees can no longer handle the pounding the get from my dearly loved Isonic 97 in the chop, What should I look for that goes fast yet is a softer ride?

Thanks,

What fin do you use?
Some older fins and G10 make the ride rather hard from my point of view.
I would recommend you to try c-fins 36cm as 4.1 if you are below 75kg or 4.2.1 if you are heavier.
That should smoothen your ride.

If you are considering to change the board, go for the Futura, the 2018 have the R2R fins which are already quite good.

Then work on building up strength in your knees. It will surely help your total life quality in the long run.

What year iS97 and is it wood or carbon? Wood is much easier on the body.

I hear the new 2018 iSonic carbon LCF (balsa wood) is giving a smooth ride.

Failing that, go with a futura 2018 LCF instead.

Default Thanks

Thanks, but I have reached 60 and have arthritis in my knees, need knee replacement so I really need to get to a smoother ride, My 97 iSonic is carbon, my 122 is older and it is not too bad with a 7.5 sail.

I will look at the Futura,

Thanks again,

Gary in Texas

Hi Gary,

I would recommend the Futura and even the CarveIQ. Both very fast boards with great comfort!

Thanks,
