Cool Choice between iSonic 157 e Ultrasonic 147

Choice between iSonic 157 e Ultrasonic 147

Good evening,
Currently I own a 2015 Ultrasonic147 and a 2015 Formula167.
I want a new board that silk faster at the start in planning

Before deciding for the iSonic 157 Carbon Reflex I must know the differences of use with a 10.-Mq
between Ultrasonic147 and Isonic157.

We use my wife (65 Kg) and me (83 kg):
Light Wind 8-13 knots:
me Formula with veil Reflex-6-2015 10.- mq and
my wife Ultrasonic with Turbo-2013 8.6 mq.
Average wind 12-17 knots:
me Ultrasonic with Turbo-2013 8.6 mq and
my wife iSonic127-2012 with Turbo-2013 7.5 mq.
Sustained wind (16-21 nodi):
me iSonic127-2012 with Turbo-2013 7.5 mq.
If the wind increases again I could go out with
the iSonic117-2012 and the Gator-2013 6.5 mq but for me this is no longer entertaining.
It becomes work.

So I'm looking for a board that can replace the Formula when I go out with the 10.- mq sail.
It must be easy and start planning before the Formula.
N.B .: I tried the Formula Patrik v4 of a friend (it is easier to hover).
All Formula are designed for heavy and sails of 11.- - 12.5 mq,
In addition they are relatively banana and to release them from the water and make them go into planning you have to pump energetically several times to the open sea.
Personally I do not have the necessary strength for this exercise and to go out with a sail of 11.- mq.

I intend to use the iSonic157 (tail 76) with sails of 10.- and 8.6 with a fin of 60 cm
and also as a Formula 160 (Tail 78) or HWR (Tail 81) with a fin of 70 cm.

Thank you for the advice I look forward to.

Hi Eddy,

The most obvious difference between the iSonic and the UltraSonic ranges is that the iSonics are pure performance-orientated speed machines while the UltraSonic is all about early planing and light-wind efficiency.

If you compare the boards side by side, you'll see that the UltraSonic is more than 10 cm longer than the iSonic 147 and also slightly wider. The extra length allows for more passive planing, as opposed to the iSonics that usually require at least a sail pump to get planing.

The UltraSonic is also a bit thinner, which means it's not a powerful as an iSonic or Formula board (but that doesn't make it slow).

For easy-performance, go with the UltraSonic. If you're ready to work a bit more for more speed and earlier active planing with pumping, go for the iSonics.

Thanks,

Wink Differences between the Ultrasonic and the new iSonic157

My request was about the differences between the Ultrasonic and the new iSonic157
I intend to use the iSonic157 with the sails of 10.- and 8.6:
in slalom mode with a fin of 60 cm and
in Formula mode with a 70 cm fin.
Thank you for the advice I look forward to.

Does the iS157 100% perform like a true iSonic in windsurf mode or is it designed mostly for foil?

The iS157 might be the the board to change my with my F161. I am not going to use the iS157 for foiling, will only use it as windsurfer and 9.6m.
