Default Isonic 124 and 114 both with 8.6 as ideal Sail Size

The Isonic 124 and 114 (2016) has both indicated 8.6 as ideal Sail Size. Will the board choise depend on the sailers wheigt? (88kg)

I was going for the is124 (9.2 powered up to 7.8) to close the gap between my 2016 ultrasonic 147 (11 - 9.2 low wind) and my 2010 Futura 111 (7.8 powered up down to 4.7)

I'm insecure if the is114 would not be the better match (replacing my 2010 Futura 133 witch is perfect with 7.8 but not that much with 9.2 even with a C3 48cm fin).

Hello Alex. I use Drake Slalom Pro in 34cm (4.7 and 5.5) and 36cm (6.4).

I have an old IS 111 (108L volume). 7.6 is the sweet spot and I occasionally use a 8.4 or a 6.6. However if there is any slogging with the 8.4, it's a pain in the butt. I weigh 170 lbs and with the weight of the rig and my weight, the board is somewhat unstable. Uphauling can be a little tricky, but OK. Once powered, no problem on the 8.4.

I took the IS 124 and I can hopefully in a short time give my opinion about it...

Yesterday I was happy to try my new 2016 iSonic 124. I liked it very much! With the 9.2 the Select S1 45cm felt a bit small, I preferred it with my C3 48cm G10. The Starboard indication for 9.5 is 46cm. With the 7.8 I used also the Select S1 45cm and that was OK. Top speed with 52.7 km/h a bit slower than I expected. With the same sail and the C3 48 I did on the Futura 133 54.7 km/h. I will try my C3 42cm with the 7.8 and will see. The control of the iS 124 is perfect even better than with the 5cm smaller Futura 133. Its sportier, so no plaining w/o one or two pumps, but then you receive a good acceleration and the board stays on the plain in lulls where the Futura couldn’t keep going.

In my case (@>95kg) the chart on the board is spot on for my BPF type R's. Mostly I take a little smaller than recommeded instronger winds. My 8.6m2 like's (well powered) the combination with 42,5cm very much. My lightwind set up is 9.6m2 with older Tectonic Talon 48cm vin or BPF 45cm....

I tried my C3 Viper 42cm G10 on the IS124 with the 7.8. I liked it better then with the Select S1 45cm.

agr64: I'm thinkig about changing my GA 9.2 Phantom to a Gun GSR 9.6 to use it on the US147 and the IS124. Do you feel the 9.6 on the IS124 OK or a bit too big?
