Default Isonic 97 2016

I have a Isonic 97 2016 and use it for my Loft blade 7,0 and 7,8. I'm 85 kg and 194 cm tall. For the 7,0 i use a sonntag SLX 35 and for the 7,8 a SLX 37. I have done about 10 sessions with the board and from the beginning it feels sticky. I have the mastbase all the way back and raised the boom. Also tried some more downhaul, but still the board feels sticky. A friend of mine has a Isonic 107 2015 and with my Loft sails this board is much faster and flies with lot control over the chop. I used a sonntag SLR 37,5. When going back to the 97 this feels more nervouse and again sticky and harder to control over the chop.

What can i do to improve the performance of the 97? Would bigger or different fins help ?

I have the 2016 97 and had the 2105 107. I have not had the sticky feeling you are talking about. My top speed on the 107 was 36 knots and I have done over 37 knots twice on the 97. The 97 definately feels faster. I have the mast track in the middle recommended position. I tried the 7.8 once on the 97 but the 107 takes it better. The 97 is best set up for the 6.2/34cm and 7.0/36cm. Keep trying the 97 and you will love it. Good luck.

Hi OZI,

Thanks for your reply!
What kind/brand of fins you are using with the 7,8? I have the idea the the Sonntag SLX gives not enough lift. So maybe another fin will help. For the 7,8 the 107 is definitely the better board, may be the 97 is to small for alround use of the 7,8. The sticky feeling is mostly with 7,8. The 7,0 feels better on the board and i also did 37 knots with the 97 with 7,0.

I have also a IS 87 and IS 120, so i use the 97 for 7,0 and 7,8.

I am using Vector Volt 2 34/6.2, 36/7.0 and 38/7.8. They have good lift but great all round and off the wind too. The 7.8 on the 97 is fine downwind but across the wind and for all round sailing I find it a bit big (just my personal point of view).
